Group Programs at the Norman Bird Sanctuary Looking for something to do with a group of friends, co-workers, or your organization? These programs may be just the thing you need! To book a program, please call (401) 846-2577 or e-mail education@NormanBirdSanctuary.org
Select from a leisurely walk to more challenging trails. Each walk is approximately one hour in length, with an additional 30 minutes allowed for exploration of the grounds, Barn Museum, and animal exhibits. Binoculars and field guides are provided for participants to share. Program Cost: $125 for up to 25 participants; $225 for 26-50 participants.
Program Cost: Volunteer; depending on the project, groups may be asked to donate supplies or program materials.
Are you looking for a challenge? Our small group team-building activities will help your small group (5-20 participants) build trust and strengthen communication, cooperation, and problem solving skills. Challenges are designed to meet the individual needs of the group and are "debriefed" to help the team discuss their progress. You may sign up for a single 1.5 hour class, or an extended 3 hour workshop. Program Cost: $175 for 1.5 hour workshop; $300 for 3 hour workshop.
NBS EcoTable - Are you hosting a community festival or fair? Let our professional educators bring the NBS "EcoTable" to your event! We'll set up an exciting display with 1-2 live animals, wildlife biofacts, shells, and other tactile props for your audience to investigate. This ineractive exhibit is the perfect way for participants of all ages to discover Rhode Island's amazing natural history! PowerPoint or Animal Presentaions - Choose from one of the Sanctuary's popular nature-based programs, or suggest your own environmental topic for us to cover! We work with a wide variety of community organizations, from senior centers to corporate organizations, and will tailor our program to meet your group's needs and interests. NBS PowerPoint presentations feature an interactive slide show, while animal programs may include live animals, biofacts, and other specimens. Each program is generally one hour in length and geared towards adult or general audiences, though times and formats can be adjusted to meet your event's specific requirements. Bring your organization to NBS for a guided interpretive hike. Our professional naturalists will help you to explore out field, forest, pond, or ridge habitat. Each interactive program features plants, birds, and animal tracks, and discusses current topics in wildlife conservation. Programs can include general natural history or be geared to match your group's interests, with themes on local birds, geology, fall foliage, and winter ecology.

Give back with one of our unique community service options. Your group can combine a visit to the Sanctuary with a 1.5-5 hour service project. Past projects have included sand dune restoration, painting classrooms, and building animal exhibits. Each visit provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the local community, and helps NBS to further its mission of conservation and quality environmental education.
