Frequently Asked Questions about NBS Summer Camp

When and how can I sign my children up for camp? Our online rolling registration begins the week of February 1. All registration is on a first come/first serve basis.

Please note that we require a valid credit card for online registration.

Why should I choose NBS summer camp for my child? Our age-appropriate and innovative camps offer a unique blend of hands-on learning, games, animal encounters, and teambuilding. Camp groups utilize our 325-acre outdoor classroom and are held in small groups with caring, enthusiastic and professional Teacher Naturalists.

How many weeks of camp can my child attend? All campers can now attend an unlimited number of sessions per summer!  Each session offers new activities.

When is payment due? We require a valid credit card or bank account number for all registrations, and you will need to pay immediately in order to reserve your spot. You must visit NBS to pay in person if you do not wish to pay online.

Are there scholarships available? Yes, we have a limited number of partial scholarships available and strive to make our camp programs available for every child. Please call (401) 846-2577 or visit our Forms and Information page to receive a confidential application form.  Please fill out the Scholarship Application before registering online.

How do I become a member? All camp families are required to have at least a family membership or higher through August 31st. You can select a membership during the online registration process or may call or visit NBS to complete the form.

Can I register my friend’s child? No. Only parents or guardians (or grandparents, with an extended family membership) may register their children for summer camp.

What happens if I have to cancel or change my child’s enrollment? There is a $50 administrative fee for all cancellations and a $25 fee for all scheduling changes before June 1st, after online registration forms are submitted. After June 1st, no refunds will be given, and scheduleing change fees will be $100. Please do not sign up for camp weeks to "hold" a spot – only register for the weeks that your child plans to attend.

I want my child to be in the same group as another friend. How do I request this? If your child wishes to be in the same camp group with ONE special friend, BOTH parties must request the same one-on-one pairing on their online registration form and must be in the same age range. Due to the high number of participants, rosters and schedules cannot be changed on the first day of camp, so please plan ahead. We cannot accommodate multiple requests for special friends.

My child doesn’t want to miss any of her favorite activities. How do I know which theme to pick? While we are excited to offer a wide variety of new programs, rest assured that ALL weeks will include camper favorites such as beach trips, hiking, animal presentations, and outdoor exploration. Themes will only be used as guidelines for the week.
